Rodney was born on January 21, 1969, and has been a lifelong resident of DeSoto County since 1974. He graduated from Southaven High School in 1987. Shortly after graduating, Rodney joined the Professional Bowlers Association from 1988 to 1992.

Rodney has extensive experience in customer service, sales, facilities maintenance management, project management, and business management. He spent five years as the owner and operator of a commercial washing and windshield repair business. Since January 2014, he has worked for the City of Horn Lake as Assistant Utility Director and Deputy Clerk and was chosen by his peers to represent the city on the DCRUA Board.

He has been married to Angela Nash for ten and a half years and is the proud father of five children, four daughters and one son. He also has twelve grandchildren, eight granddaughters and four grandsons, and one great-grandson.
